Toolbar navigation
To view the toolbar within the editor you can hover over the top of the editor screen view and it will appear. To 'Pin' or 'Unpin' the toolbar you can hover over the bottom of the toolbar, in the middle, selecting either option.
Settings cog
The settings cog of the AD Editor can be found in the top-left corner of the screen and can be toggled to open and closed by clicking on the cog icon.
Within the menu there are six different categories of settings:
- Preferences
- Appearance & Behaviour
- Hotkeys
- Microphone
- Sound
- Video
To read about all the settings in detail, go to the General Settings page.
Video title
By clicking on the video title you will be provided with an overview of the following:
- Project name
- Video title
- Language (the language you are creating AD in)
- Track type (for example subtitles or AD)
Event browser
By clicking on the 'Event browser' button you are provided with a side panel which shows the AD events that have been created within the editor.
Each event is displayed with an event number, a time stamp, the duration the AD gap is on the screen for, an option to view or edit annotation and a quick link arrow that can move you to that AD event within the editior.
Arrows
By clicking on the left arrow you are taken to the previous event.
By clicking on the right arrow you are taken to the next event.
Search bar
By clicking on the search bar you are provided with a search window with which you can find events within the editor or access a new view within the editor.
Different ways of navigating to specific events are:
- Search by event text, for example "the moon came into view."
- Search by event number with a #, for example "#37"
- Search by video time by writing min or sec, for example "4min 23sec"
New event
To add a new event to the editor you must first navigate to a specific time code within the timeline that does not currently have an event.
You can then click the '+ New event' button or use the New Event Hotkey and a new event will appear within the selected point on the timeline.
Event status indictors
The event status indicators appear as grey, yellow, green or red alonside a number value that corresponds to the amount of events with that status within the timeline.

Grey: Event exists, but has no script or audio.

Yellow: A script exists for this event, but no audio has been recorded.

Green: Both the script and audio has been created for this event.

Red: There is an active error in this event which should be resolved.

Orange: These events have been flagged.
Save indicator
Zille saves all changes immediately when they are made. When a change is made, the indicator will display Saving... for a few seconds, and then confirm by displaying Saved.
Users should ensure an internet connection is maintained in order not to risk any loss of work.
User icons
People who are present in the editor will appear here. Users can follow each other, which will allow them to navigate to different points in the video in order to go over anything they want to discuss whilst looking at the same events.
Glossary
By clicking on the 'Glossary' button you are provided with a side panel which shows the glossary for the project, if the project manager has uploaded one.
Comments
By clicking on the 'Comments' button you are provided with a side panel which shows any comments which have been created.
Issues
By clicking on the 'Issues' button you are provided with a side panel which shows any existing issues which need to be resolved.
Personalisation
You can personalise your editor by selecting Comments, Issues, Glossery or Event browser and dragging and dropping them between the two highlighted boxes on the toolbar. This will then change where the side panels appear on your screen.
Complete task
When you have finished your work within the editor you can click on 'Complete task' in order to mark the task as completed.
Once you mark a task as complete the project manager will immediately be notified and the editor will close down. You will no longer have access to the editor, unless the project manager has given you extended access.
